5th Kevin Weekes Celebrity Charity Golf Classic raises $20,000 for youth initiatives

5th Kevin Weekes Celebrity Charity Golf Classic
From July 2nd – 6th, 2009, NHL goaltender Kevin Weekes was joined by a collection of celebrity friends at the 5th Kevin Weekes Celebrity Charity Golf Classic in Barbados. Graciously presented by the Barbados Tourism Authority, the event raised $20,000 US for two youth charities; Sky’s the Limit of and The Phoenix Academy Barbados.

Toronto's Sky's The Limit
Sky's the Limit provides students with access to the tools and resources they need to pursue the infinite opportunities and possibilities available to them. This unique initiative was pursued to benefit students in under-resourced communities by providing them with refurbished computers in their homes. Sky's the Limit ensures that a mentoring program is in place to get the students up and running and provides environmental benefits by ensuring that computer systems are reused and recycled.
Core value - Sky's the Limit provides services to all under-resourced youth regardless of race, gender, religious belief or sexual orientation. "Everybody's kids or nobody's kids"

Phoenix Academy of Barbados
A community based institution with a focus on the total development of the youth. The Academy’s structure is comprised of:
(1) An academic component – Math and English tutorials, IT, leadership, mentorship and music
(2) A sports program comprised of cricket, fitness training and table tennis. The program caters to approximately 110 boys between the ages of 8 and 17 years on Saturdays and weekdays after school.
